This past Saturday I joined The Fairy and The Joburg Photowalkers on a walk through the "Old China Town" at the end of Commissioner Str in Central Jozi. What an awesome afternoom. It would be safe to say, it was almost as cool as spending an afternoon with C-3PO, and I say almost because I have a soft spot for famous Robots and I believe that there will be very few things that would top that!

Afternoon started off with meeting everyone in the parking lot at Sci-Bono. My Fairy finally took me out the bag, do you have any idea what it is like to be carried in a dark bag knowing that there are some fun things to do and see? Best I stop here incase I get put in the bag again. We decided to go with Jerome to pick his son, Matthew, up. I got to have my picture taken in a bucket held by a crane and at a soccer stadium with the most handsome lego construction workers I have ever seen *blush*. Hold me back! After that we were on our way.

Next stop - Swallows Inn Chinese Restaurant for a nice, filling Chinese Buffet Lunch. I have it on good authority that this restaurant is the oldest there and it is still going. I was fortunate enough to have my photo taken by Jerome and his son set up a super set with the plates and chatted to an Origami bird. Such an amazing life. You know that those birds start out as flat paper squares?

The plate set and a random Cat.

Once we were all ready to be rolled out there, the rest of the afternoon was random snaps of things here and there. I visited a shop that sells Tea for just about every occasion, Detox tea, constipation tea, increase your libido tea, this tea and that tea. So much to choose from.

Even the tea agrees Im a True Beauty.

It was so wonderful to see a new place. I have been to the park, I have eaten in Linden, hung out with 4 armed Aliens and 8 legged spider monkeys. But this was an adventure I enjoyed very much. And it was so wonderful to feel so welcome and have people take an interest in me personally. I just hope that The Fairy carries me in a top pocket rather than by my one leg upside down. I know I loose my bling in a pocket, but really, my leg has a habit of falling off too. I hope The Fairy is reading this - hint hint.

This is me, signing off for this crazy Adventure of Miss Josephine. I hope to mingle with the crowd soon. Until then. Love and good juju for everyone.

PS - The Fairy's story is here - Bow-Ties and Dragons - Through My Looking Glass

This World of Beer is worth a visit by the way

Miss Josephine joined me on a portrait workshop yesterday. It was for the help portraits project that will be kicking off in September this year. The aim is to take 25 000 portraits of people in need, to get them printed and give them back. It is a wonderful initiative. Although a photo is a luxury, it is something that can be treasured forever.

The workshop was O.K. The real highlight of the day was playing with the kids and showing those kids there how gorgeous they really are and I think they had such a fun time. There were 2 in particular that won my heart and of course, Miss Josephine won the hearts of ALL Of them. My camera ended up in the hands of a 9 year old, and although my heart skipped a few beats, a natural talent lies inside that little girl, I was 'wowed' with her natural eye for composition and posing. I also met some wonderful people taking part in the project.

I am hoping to visit there again soon to drop off a special package for my 2 new friends, some fun photo's of their day. And I am sure Miss Josephine is too. She loves to be loved. And why wouldn't she be??

Check out: http://www.helpportrait.co.za/ for more info on the initiative in South Africa and for the not so South African readers: http://help-portrait.com/. It is a global initiative, so no matter where you are in the world, you can be a part of something pretty darn cool! Just putting this out there! :-)

These leaves - The prop for most of the photo's I took.
Miss Josephine had her first real outing on the long week end just past. She is no wild child, but she certainly gets that little self around.

She hung out with Aliens, Orgres, Celebs and showed her softer animal lover side when she visited a new born Calf on a dairy farm. I believe somewhere along the way she got to see the inside of a tractor. She tells me that the highlight was her studio shoot she had with C-3PO because it's not every day to get to hang out with such a cool 'Star Wars' character.

Below is a photo diary of the week end.

In a land not very far from your own, there lived a fantastical fairy, so fantastical that it would be hard to believe that such a fairy would exist. A Fairy of sheer beauty and a Fairy so pure and untouched by the evils of the dark forces by which we are all surrounded. The fairy is on a quest to put an end to the disbelief. The same disbelief that has over-ridden all our ideals and imaginations, the disbelief in true love, true happiness and most of all the disbelief in fun and fantasy.

The Fantastical Fairy set out on her quest, taking with her only a back-pack of fruit and her wand. To date, her wand has been the only source of protection against the dark forces of disbelief. If the fairy got herself caught up in the disbelief, her quest would be in vain and only a true believer can accomplish this mammoth task.

She started through the woods and came to a very large door in the middle of nowhere. on it was a sign that said; "Please come in, we have been waiting for you Fantastical Fairy". She cautiously opened the door, but no one was inside. She was suddenly swept up by a ferocious tornado that sent her sailing around the small room. Back and forth, back and forth transporting her to another dimension. There were colored sparks all around here and as the tornado gradually lost strength, an image appeared in the centre of all this colorful madness and the fairy was gently put back down on the ground.

The dizzy fairy took a moment to collect herself. She looked around the room and in the corner sat a peculiar little creature, he went by the name of Sattelzen Flanigan. Sattelzen was truly a magnificent creature in his own right. he spent his days traveling through time, he took a great interest in history. Conversing with him was a problem. He spoke in an ancient language and could only be understood for a few minutes before you started to wonder when he was talking about. He was a Sattelzen of great wisdom and knowledge and had heard of the Fairy's quest. He told the Fairy that her quest would grow more difficult by the day, disbelief would grow stronger by the day. And the greater the disbelief, the greater the obstacles.

Sattelzen offered the Fairy a companion. A little girl by the name of Miss Josephine. Although Miss Josephine is little, she is a marvelous and brave little girl. One so true to herself and her companions. Miss Josephine has accomplished many missions and accompanied many Fairies, but not a mission to great, and not a Fairy so Fantastical.
